my little brother had a green 1st gen for a while - really neat vehicle, nice size and super useful, but badly needed another 20-30hp... it did not appreciate inclines

Yeah they are civics basically, you could swap in a turbo JDM engine, there is one that people use. They must have them in Australia because ARB makes some good bits for them and a lift kit. People do quite a bit to them. When I need to replace mine, I might look for a clean first gen and swap the engine, we’ll see. I might try to get a diesel Delica!
